Japan helps developing countries manage waste

Japan's Environment Ministry officials are working to boost exports of Japanese waste management know-how and technology to developing nations.

They are looking to set up infrastructure such as incineration facilities and trash disposal systems.

Rapid urban population growth has left many developing countries with waste management issues.

The strategy includes support in designing systems for collecting, sorting and processing waste. Ministry officials say many developing countries don't have such systems. The plan also involves training people.

The environment minister will be visiting developing countries to discuss policies and hold environment-technology exhibitions there.NHK
